Carole-Anne Roussel

BIOGRAPHY

Carole-Anne Roussel is a French-Canadian soprano appreciated for the purity and warmth of her voice, as well as her natural stage presence and her contagious cheerfulness. Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2023 and recipient of the Prix d’Europe 2021, she is currently an Associate Artist at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium. She also holds a Master’s Degree from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec.


Over the last few years, she has performed many roles such as: Norina in Don Pasquale by Donizetti with ItalfestMTL; Leïla in Les Pêcheurs de Perles by Bizet with JM Canada; Adèle in Le Comte Ory by Rossini with Tempêtes et Passions; The Little Match Girl in Three Tales by Andersen in the Festival d’Opéra de Québec; Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss and Rachel in Book of Faces by Kendra Harder with Highlands Opera Studio; Helena in A midsummer Night’s dream by Britten with Opera NUOVA; Laurette in Le Docteur Miracle by Bizet with the Relève Musicale de Québec; Lucy in The Telephone by Menotti and Annina in The Saint of Bleecker Street by Menotti, with the Conservatoire de musique de Québec. 



In the last three years, she has sung as a soloist with the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 conducted by Michael Stern, with the Orchestre Royal de chambre de Wallonie in Britten’s Illuminations and Osvaldo Golijov’s three songs, with Appassionato in Knoxville: summer of 1915 by Barber and in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelssohn, with the Vlaams Radiokoor in Dvořak’s Stabat Mater, with the Concert d’Anvers in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelssohn. We have also heard her with the National Orchestra Korea, with La Monnaie Orchestra, with the Orchestre de l’estuaire, with the Orchestre symphonique de Lévis, with the Orchestre symphonique de la Côte-Nord,  with the Orchestre Symphonique des jeunes de Montréal, with the Camerata Universidad Andrés Bello in Santiago, with Casco Phil and with the MUCH Ensemble. with Appassionato in Knoxville: summer of 1915 by Barber and in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelssohn,

Carole-Anne is a fellow of the Quebec Arts Council, the Fonds Hans-Jürgen Grein, the Fonds Sandra and Alain Bouchard, the Fonds AIDA of JM Canada.
